A G. Ruggeri statuette after the 16th century sculpture titled Hercules and Diomedes by Vincenzo de’ Rossi. This piece was number eight in The Labors of Hercules series. It depicts Hercules and Diomedes, two heroes of Greek mythology, wrestling nude. Hercules is shown holding Diomedes upside down preparing to thrown him, while Diomedes grips Hercules’ penis. The piece is composed of off-white composite material and rests on a black square pedestal. The underside is marked to a label ‘Sculptor G. Ruggeri, Made in Italy’.
