An original signed 1997 hand-drawn ink comic by contemporary American cartoonist Jim Borgman (1954-), best-known for his political cartoons, illustrations for the Cincinnati Enquirer, and the comic strip Zits. This comic is titled This Month in the New England Journal of Medicine and was created for publication in the Cincinnati Enquirer. It depicts illustrations of three satirical sicknesses afflicting New Englanders. The drawing is signed and dated to the upper right, and is again signed and noted ‘To Tom- Very Best!’ to the lower right of the matting. The illustration is triple-matted in white, metallic gold tone, and forest green and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with green finish and a hanging wire.
