Vintage Walnut Desk by Indiana Desk Company
Item Details
A vintage desk by the Indiana Desk Company. The walnut-finished desk features a wide central locking drawer flanked by two columns of three side drawers each, and the entire structure rises on eight short turned legs. The chair has a rounded back, a cane seat, and a four-spoke base terminating in castors.
Within a year of its founding in 1905, the Jasper Novelty Works began producing desks, and in 1929 changed its name to the Indiana Desk Company. Metal rationing in World War II increased demand on wooden furniture, and the company flourished. Today, Indiana Furniture remains headquartered in the town of Jasper.
