A serigraph poster on paper for the 1980 Art Expo West, designed by artist Tom Kamifuji (1922-2015). This poster features a stylized black kimono with a red, pink, and orange butterfly obi and pink and gold butterflies on the shoulders. A tag in the back of the kimono is printed with the artist’s name, ‘Kamifuji’. Information on the Art Expo is printed to the lower edge, and in small print below that is copyright and publication information. To the verso is affixed a piece of paper reading ‘Kamifuji was the man that put the color in the apple’, referring to a statement by the designers of the original Apple logo saying they were inspired by Kamifuji’s colorful prints. This piece is presented in a metal frame and wired for hanging.
