A watercolor painting, with gouache detailing, of grazing sheep in an open field, by listed artist Reuben Le Grande Johnston (1851-1918). This work uses earth tone washes of paint to render a flock of sheep standing closely together, a small line of buildings visible through the trees. This work is signed ‘R. L. Johnston’ to the lower right and is presented under glass in a carved wooden frame, a wire for hanging to the verso.

Condition

- fair; toning and foxing marks to paper; significant wear and nicks to frame, particularly corners; 4" chip to upper left edge of frame.
