Nutcracker, German Incense Smokers, and Limberjack Dancing Doll
Item Details
A German nutcracker, two incense smokers, and Limberjack dancing doll. The nutcracker depicts a blacksmith forging his craft on his anvil. The incense smokers come apart into two sections with a small plate on the bottom half to hold the incense cone. When the top is replaced over the burning cone, the character appears to be ’smoking’his pipe! The Limberjack is a much loved toy and rhythm instrument. It is believed to have originated in Italy in the 1500s, and was brought to the British Isles and France by street performers. From there it was carried to the Americas by immigrants.
