An oil painting on canvas titled Blowin’ in the Wind by listed contemporary Dutch-Austalian painter Peter Smets (Netherlands/Australia; born 1962). This Hyperrealist work features a man standing on the edge of a grassy cliff. A couple paper maps fall in the vast cloudy blue sky that occupies the majority of the painting. The work is signed to the lower left. It is presented in a simple gold-tone wood frame.
Raised in the Netherlands, Peter Smets immigrated to Australia in 1986. He is known for his large Hyperrealist paintings often depicting men working at construction sites and other industrial subjects. He exhibits his work at contemporary art galleries throughout Australia.
Condition
- small residue spot present to lower right area of painting; some wear in frame includes scratches and minor stains throughout; chipped area in lower left edge of frame.
