Item Details

A grouping of four carved wood masks. The first of these pieces consists of four masks mounted on a single horizontal support, depicting geometrically abstract round and triangular faces with features in low relief and a shiny dark finish. The two Kenyan masks present open-mouthed faces with pointed tongues extended, wearing similar headdresses, in a light finish and a dark finish. The last mask features a face wearing an elongated headdress, in a dark finish. Hanging hardware is affixed to the verso of each mask, and there are no apparent maker’s marks.

- edge wear; minor chips and cracks to wood; residue to surfaces; slightly dusty.
