Robert Broderson Original Oil on Paper
Item Details
An original oil painting on heavyweight rag paper by very well-listed American Abstract Expressionist, Robert Broderson (North Carolina/Connecticut; 1920 – 1992). The image depicts two stylized, childlike figures, consistent with Broderson’s oeuvre, one of them a nurturing, parent-figure and the other a smaller child-figure. The parent’s face hints at a smile, while the child’s face appears indifferent and blank, adding a compelling element of eeriness, further emphasized in the figures’ pale, washed out complexions and large, black eyes, as well as the bleak gray-scale of the composition. Artist signature is signed in white paint to the lower right. This piece is unframed, awaiting presentation of choice.
Broderson’s works are included in the collections of numerous reputed institutions across the nation, a few of which include the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; National Collection, Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC; Princeton University, New Jersey; Des Moines Art Center, Iowa; Harpur College, Binghampton, New York; North Carolina Museum of Art; and Duke University, North Carolina; among many more.
