Framed Mola Panels
Item Details
A pair of framed mola panels. Mola are shirt panels in the traditional dress of the Kuna people in Panama and Columbia. These panels are made using appliqué, embroidery, and fine stitching of brightly colored fabric in striped, geometric patterns. The pieces are made in a majority of bright red, with layers of green, white, pink, blue, navy, black, yellow, and green. The larger piece features a fully abstract geometric composition, while the smaller depicts a large bird perched in a tree. They are both presented between panes of glass in silver tone frames with D-rings for hanging.

- some residue beneath glass; some fading on larger piece.
