A wall scroll with a woodblock print on rice paper after a portrait of Confucius by Chinese artist Wu Daozi (吳道子, or Daoxuan 道玄, c. 680 - 760). The piece depicts Confucius in patterned robes, rendered in a palette of white against black. The image includes Chinese calligraphy and stamps in plate to the outer margins. It is mounted to a patterned fabric scroll with wooden handles to the bottom and a hanging ribbon to the top. The scroll comes with a patterned storage box.
