Japanese Porcelain Duck-Shaped Water Dropper

A vintage Japanese duck-shaped water dropper. The elegant porcelain piece is in the shape of a swimming duck. The water fowl has a lotus plant on it’s back and holds a lotus bud in its beak. The elegant piece is glazed in dove-grey over delicate incising accentuating the bird’s feathers. Water droppers are used to add small amounts of water while grinding ink for use in calligraphy or painting. The underside is marked with a single character alongside three felt pads.
