Vintage Pierrot de Pierre Dancing Clown Music Box by Koji Murai

Item Details

A circa 1970s ‘Dancing Clown’ music jewelry box. The piece, created by Japanese designer Koji Murai and produced by Pierrot de Pierre, features a decorative shadow box frame to the top that houses a two-dimensional clown figure with hinged limbs. The clown moves and music plays when the unit is wound to the verso and the jewelry drawer to the bottom is pulled out. The front of the piece is marked with colorful offset lithograph imagery that includes text of ‘Circus’ and ‘Dancing Clown’.

Condition

- scuffing and edge wear throughout; heavier wear to drawer front with some graphics torn away; music box works when drawer is open.
