1880s Hand-Cranked Concert Roller Organ
Item Details
An 1880s-era concert roller organ, or barrel organ. This tabletop organ is operated by a front-mounted hand crank which both operates the bellows and rotates the barrel, a wooden cylinder studded with a series of metal pins to trigger the organ valves. The dark brown and black walnut cabinet has geometric decoration on the sides, a hinged glass door over the barrel and a interior floral decoration beside the valves. The top of the cabinet reads ‘Concert Roller Organ’ and has a small plaque reading ‘Chicago Music Co. 195–197 Wabash Ave Chicago’.

- functional when tested; scratches and marks to finish; general wear consistent with age and use.
