An oil painting on canvas of a mountainous landscape by P. Ewert (Austrian, 20th century). This work features a dirt path receding into the background of a green landscape filled with patches of trees. A river in the background is spotted with a few sailing boats. Some minuscule European buildings are visible in front of a distant mountain range silhouetted against a cloudy sky. The painting is signed to the lower right. It is presented in an ornate gilt and gesso frame with scrolling acanthus leaf molding. A stamp, a descriptive label, and a short bio of the artist from W.T. Burger Company are present to the verso.
Condition
- some rippling throughout upper part of canvas; some wear in frame includes stains, scratches, small cracks, and discoloration throughout.
