A hand knotted Persian Isfahan wool rug. This beautiful Iranian rug, in a dramatic and unusual color way, enjoys a background in dark cream with an overall floral and arabesque pattern in shades of aqua, ochre, raspberry, celadon green, emerald green, lavender, salmon and indigo blue, with a large center medallion in aqua with radial floral designs and to the center an eight-lobed raspberry floral medallion with eight-pointed star center. The rug has a major border in aqua with scrolling vines and pods, and minor guard stripes in tangerine with stylized floral motifs. To the outside is a cream border with floral and geometric patterning. The rug has off white cotton woven warp fringe to both ends. The original tag from Iran is retained to the verso.
