19th Century French Limoges Grisaille Enamel Plaque, Signed
Item Details
A finely executed 19th century French Limoges grisaille convex enamel plaque depicting a romantic scene, initialed FR in the lower right. The tryst is illustrated at a stone wall with the young maiden holding a water jug, the scene is done in tones of black and gray with accents in metallic gold. The convex enamel plaque is presented in what is most likely the original bronze frame with a laurel crest and foliate pattern at the edges with a hinged stand.
