A 1989 limited edition plate from Royal Doulton featuring Diana, Princess of Wales (1961-1997), in a portrait after a painting by John Merton. The plate has gilding to the rim and verge with alternating blue and gold tone panels at the rim. The center of the plate depicts Diana in three poses in which she wears a yellow ballgown. The plate is marked to the base ‘Royal Doulton’ and ‘H.R.H. The Princess of Wales – from a painting by John Merton – 1987 John Merton – 1989 Royal Doulton – Limited Edition of 10,000 – No.40’. The plate is also marked with the Prince of Wales crest of three feathers. The plate is signed in black ink with an illegible signature and ‘20 Mar 1990’, which is the European form of dating.
