Ballard Oil on Canvas Portrait "Strong Simpson"
Item Details
An oil painting on canvas by Ballard. The quarter length portrait depicts an older man with a full white bead, head slightly tilted as he looks off to the left. He is dressed with a feathered alpine hat and dark coat, and smoking from a long wooden pipe. This work is signed in the lower left and presented in a stepped wooden frame with a sawtooth bracket attached on verso. The stretcher is marked ‘Strong’ and ‘Simpson’ however it could be confirmed whether the name of the subject.
Condition
- minor wear to frame finish.
