A hand painted enamel on porcelain portrait plaque by Rosenthal, Germany, featuring a close up of the Virgin Mary after an original painting titled Madonna of the Rocks by famed Renaissance painter Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (1452-1519). Mary appears in a blue mantle with a large, bejeweled clasp. She gazes downward as a halo adorns the top of her head. Signed and titled to the verso of the porcelain with Rosenthal stamps. Presented without glass, housed in an ornate gesso and lustrous gilt wood frame with pierced, molded corners.
