Late 19th Century Porcelain of Madonna and Child in Gothic Frame
Item Details
A late 19th century hand painted porcelain icon depicting a Madonna and Child is housed within a Gothic Revival hinged wood frame. The portrait is reflective of the classical symbolic genre. The standing Christ child is grasping the cross as Mary holds him as both are gazing at heaven above. The porcelain is surrounded by a brown velvet liner. The hinged doors are heavily adorned with scrolls and the same motif repeats along the perimeter of the frame.
EBTH certifies this item is from the private collection of personal property formerly owned by Dr. Robert H. Schuller.
Condition
The porcelain sits a bit askew against the velvet liner and the wood frame has had some repairs.
