Murano Glass Compote with Painted Scene of Jesus Walking on Water

A vintage hand blown Murano glass compote. The compote is a vibrant emerald color with polychrome enamel decoration depicting the a scene from the Biblical passage Matthew 14:22-33 in which Jesus walks on water in front of his disciples. Finely painted with excellent detail including a dolphin form, trumpeting angels in the sky, and Peter as he walks out to Jesus. Gilt decoration appears throughout the scene and around the top and bottom rims. Signed to the underside, ‘Murano Glass-Italy.’
