1898 Gorham "Chantilly Grande" Sterling Lidded Tureen
Item Details
An 1898 Rococo style sterling silver lidded tureen by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. The double handled oval bowl is in the Chantilly-Grand pattern and features a flaring rim above a wide bowl that tapers before rising on a scrolling foliate base. It is presented with a tall floral garland lid with a foliate handle. The whole displays an ornate series of repoussé and embossed scrolling floral ornamentation. It is marked underneath with the three pseudo hallmarks, ‘sterling’, ‘A577’ and a date code of 1898. The approximate weight is 38.035 ozt.
