Antique and Vintage Sterling Silver Spoons

Item Details

A collection of seven antique and vintage sterling silver spoons. The featured piece was made by Alvin of Providence, Rhode Island in the_Bridal Rose_ pattern issued by the factory in 1903 and consisting of a rose patterned tip, a cartouche and further floral and leaf decorated handle. Another standout is the Gorham Etruscan patterned spoon issued in 1913 and designed by William C. Codman. The other makers are Towle of Newburyport, Mass. using a mark that was first seen in 1890. There is also a spoon by Lunt and one by Whiting. The pieces all have factory marks including the hallmarks for Gorham on the underside consisting of a lion, anchor and ‘G’ as well as ‘Sterling’. All the examples are marked ‘Sterling’ The total approximate weight is 3.850 ozt.

- some minor surface wear with faint markings and tarnishing; engraved monograms present.
