Tall Hand Thrown Stoneware Tureen With Ladle

A tall, hand thrown stoneware tureen and ladle. This well made covered tureen has a tall cylindrical shape with a slight ridge at the midpoint. It has pulled and textured applied coil handles to either side and on the cover, which fits into a gallery rim at the top. A handcrafted matching ladle accompanies the tureen, having a pulled, scrolled handle and a thrown cup form with a pouring spout as the spoon. Both are glazed in a creamy opaque white glaze with a mottled floating blue and copper red to lavender band at the rim and lid. It is marked ‘Alice’ in incised script to the underside.
