An oil painting on canvas portrait of a man attributed to listed British artist James Whaite (1850-1916). Depicted is a wealthy man in a seated, three-quarters view and loyal greyhound dog to his side. To the background is a vast landscape scene with looming clouds. The work remains unsigned. To the verso is an ambiguous label identifying the painter. Presented without glass, housed in a gold-toned wood frame with egg and dart motif lining and foliage reliefs to the corners.
