After Gerald Brockhurst Offset Lithograph on Canvas "Madelyn Darrow"

An offset lithograph on canvas with painted varnish after an original portrait by British-American artist Gerald Leslie Brockhurst (1890-1978). Fully titled Madelyn Darrow, Miss Rheingold of 1958, this bust portrait features a slight three-quarter view of a woman with brown hair, wearing an orange blouse. The artist’s in-plate signature is present to the lower right. It is presented in a beveled gold-tone wood frame with a canvas lined cove, a blue liner, and an off-white sight edge. An engraved metal plate to the lower frame border reads the title and misidentifies the artist as ‘C.L. Brockhurst’. Additional engraving on the plate reads ‘Presented by the Brewers of Rheingold Extra Dry to Alice & Harry’.
Condition
- brown stains present to lower right by woman’s neck; small rips in canvas board present in woman’s eye and next to cheekbone; small spot stains scattered throughout painting; wear in frame includes chips at corners, stains, scratches, and discoloration throughout.
