Vintage Ford Runabout Pedal Car
Item Details
A vintage Ford Runabout pedal car. The car dates to the early 1950s and is a replica of the Ford Two-Seat Runabout. Research has shown that this rare pedal car was most likely fabricated as a celebration or jubilee piece to acknowledge the anniversary of the original car. The car features a green and white metal front plate that reads ‘1901 Ford’. The seat is hinged and flips open to reveal storage with ‘Two-Seat Runabout’ marked to the front of the seat base. The backend has two holes, that would have had plastic inverted caps, with one that was labeled ‘Water’ and the other labeled ‘Gasoline’. The backend is marked with ‘Simplex Models, Inc Mineola LL, NY’. The car has four spoked wheels, stem steering, and attached pedals.
