An original signed Runar Rowell (Swedish-American, 1898 – 1983) diorama titled Canada Goose. The three-dimensional oil painted work depicts a lakeside landscape with small leafless trees and grasses, with real wood sticks depicting a broken rail fence and dried plants serving as shrubs. To the distance are several islands in the lake. Two Canada geese carved figurals are in the foreground. The diorama is signed to the back. Displayed under glass in a wide oak shadowbox frame. Purchased at The Closson Galleries.
Runar Rodell was known for his three dimensional dioramas, constructing five thousand during his lifetime. Rodell was self-taught and his dioramas are widely collected throughout Europe and the United States.
