Vintage Postal Balance Scales With Weights
Item Details
A pair of vintage postal balance scales. Each brass balance is mounted on a wooden platform base which also holds three labeled weights; the balances have a simple design with two weighing pans on opposite sides of a fulcrum, allowing postal rates to be determined by comparing the weight of a letter on one side to a known weight on the other. The larger scale is marked ‘Warranted Accurate’ on one arm.
