An early 20th-century painting on canvas by listed American artist Grace Anderson. The maritime landscape depicts the Portland Head Lighthouse in Maine along the Atlantic coast. In the distance, a boat can be seen navigating the choppy waters under gathering storm clouds. The work is signed in red paint to the lower left. It is presented without glass in a wooden frame with gold tone gesso embellishments to the front and hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to Poor; heavy wear, chipping and craquelure to canvas with paint loss present throughout; loose joints to frame; scratching, cracking and wear to frame finish; frame would benefit from cleaning; no backing paper present; water stains and wear to canvas verso.
