Vintage Coronation Mugs and Cups

A set of vintage coronation mugs and cups. The two china drinking cups, which flare out slightly to the sides near the rim, commemorate the coronation of England’s King Edward VIII and Queen Elizabeth in May 1937. They are marked to the base ‘Myott – Staffordshire England’ and ‘Official Design of the British Pottery Manufacturers Federation – Made In England’. The two mugs have slightly different designs and commemorate different events. The mug with gilt accents to the handle and rim is for Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation of June 2, 1953. It is marked to the base ‘Tuscan Fine English Bone China – Made In England’, and features a portrait of her on one side. The mug celebrating King Edward VIII’s coronation is marked to the base ‘Mintons – England’ and the seal of the British Pottery Federation.
