Item Details
An antique Gilbert Clock Co. ‘Tuxedo’ mantel clock. The circa 1900 mantel clock has a rectangular case made of ebony, or other very dark stained wood. The sides of the case have ornate brass tone cast metal handles, and the case rests on a pedestal with ornate brass tone cast metal lion paw feet. The round white enameled dial has black Arabic numerals and hands, with an ornate gilded center and frame. The dial is marked ‘Wm. L Gilbert Clock Co., Winsted, Conn., U.S.A.’. The underside of the case retains a partial original label which is marked ‘Tuxedo’ along with the same information as the dial.
