Item Details
An acrylic on canvas polyptych painting titled Cheeky by contemporary American artist Bradley Narduzzi Rex (b. 1967), created in 2008. This work features six vertical canvases painted with various unmatching abstract scenes portrayed in Rex’s signature style of flat colors, stenciled shapes, and simple delineations. Each painting is marked to the canvas verso with the title and number indicating the order of the panels. The green, black, and white panel is signed to the canvas verso with additional handwriting providing the title, and reads ‘Mexico City Studio, 1, Far Left’. Also included is an exhibition catalogue of Rex’s work titled Lifted, published by the Borghi Fine Art Gallery. This polyptych is featured on page 21.
Bradley Narduzzi Rex is known for his colorful abstract works reflective of billboard imagery. He received his formal education in architecture at Columbia University and the Tolentini School of Architecture (Venice, Italy). In the early 2000s, Rex transitioned from furniture design to painting. With an interest in urban landscapes, Rex turned to billboards for inspiration. His works seek to analyze the conflicts between the imagery projected and the messages transmitted from billboards. He has exhibited in several group and solo exhibitions throughout Mexico and New England. Many of his works can be found in private collections.
