Itzchak Tarkay Seriolithograph "Morning Social"

Item Details

A large seriolithograph on paper by very well-listed artist Itzchak Tarkay (1935 – 2012), titled Morning Social. The print depicts a cafe scene where several women are seated enjoying tea and cakes. The women wear brightly-colored garments, pictured in Tarkay’s signature expressive style. The print is primarily printed using giclee methods, with serigraph accents to its surface. The print is signed in-plate to the lower right. It is double-matted in gold and white and is presented behind glass in a composite frame with tiers of black and gold tone finishes. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
Born on the Yugoslavia-Hungary border, Tarkay’s family was forced into Mauthausen Concentration Camp in 1944, freed a year later by the Allied forces. Tarkay went on to travel the world, creating a following for his distinct style. He says that he paints by instinct, and can no further explain his use of color as he can his own handwriting.
