A gouache painting on paper by listed American artist Lyman (Hopi) Hopkins (1928-2002). The maritime landscape piece, titled Trawlers, depicts ships at sea in hues of brown, blue, black, white and yellow. The work is signed ‘L. Hopkins’ in blue and brown paint to the lower right. The painting is double matted in blue and black and presented under glass in a mottled silver tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso. The frame’s paper backing includes a label with the work’s title.
Condition
- matting is warped to center; debris present under glass; wear and scratching to frame; punctures to backing paper; frame would benefit from cleaning.
