18th Century Derby Porcelain Figurine

Item Details

A Derby porcelain figure circa 1768-70. This well-modeled figure depicts a peasant in a hat, a basket laden with eggs around one wrist and a turquoise apron brimming with flowers. Her dress finely painted in polychrome enamels with flowers and picked out in puce, iron red and burnished gilding. The figure stands on a bocage decorated scroll-molded base. This piece was produced with patch marks on the underside of the base as was typical for this period at Derby.
