Oliver Glen Barrett Oil Painting on Canvas "Land of Silence"

Item Details

An oil painting on canvas titled Land of Silence by listed American landscape painter Oliver Glen Barrett (1903-1970). Mountain ranges in the distance are blurred by the hazy dessert air and bushes appear scattered around the foreground. The silence of the dessert is echoed in the bleak terrain. Inscribed to the verso by the artist with the title and his signature. Presented without glass, housed in a hand carved, nouveau style gilt wood frame.

Oliver Barrett was born in Illinois in 1903. He moved to Los Angeles in 1921, where he began painting mountain and dessert landscapes, as well as marine scenes. In 1946, he published his book, The Fascinating Art of Landscape Painting. Barrett’s legacy of familiar landscape painting lives on in his many works and his published book.
