Item Details
An oil painting on canvas of a village landscape by H. Cook. Portrayed with meticulous details, this work features a lake surrounded by trees and overgrown foliage. A few villagers are present along the banks, some small cottages are visible in the middle ground, and livestock graze in the distance. The painting is signed ‘H. Cook’ to the lower right. It is presented in a Louis XV style gilt and gesso frame.

- craquelure throughout; horizontal crack across top area of composition; scratches, small chips, and discoloration throughout frame; stains and foxing throughout verso.
