Romweber "Cobblestone" Viking Oak Buffet
Item Details
A Romweber Cobblestone Viking oak buffet. The case features a rectangular top with a slightly projecting center and molded edges above three aligned, frieze drawers. Directly below is a central stack of four drawers flanked on each side by a cabinet door. The drawer fronts are paneled while the doors are further embellished with red leather overlays lined with brass tacks. Additional features include floral carvings and metal knobs. There is a carved ribbon to the top, center drawer reading ‘Anno 1732’. The buffet rises on a molded, plinth base and the back is stenciled ‘55-1006’ and ‘Cobblestone’ with incised numbers ‘6283’ and ‘5-1006 EF’. One drawer retains a tag marked ‘Rombweber / Furniture of Timeless Beauty’.
The Viking Oak line was influenced by traditional Scandinavian furniture and was produced from the 1930s to the 1980s.
