George Jensen Original Oil Painting on Board
Item Details
An original oil painting on panel by very well-listed Toledo, Ohio landscape painter George Jensen (1878 – 1977). The painting depicts a female figure walking up a hill towards the viewer. She walks away from a pair of picturesque houses nestled in a wooded grove. Tall trees rise high above the scene, painted in short strokes of vibrant yellow, orange, and green leaves. Shadowy purple hills can be seen in the distance. The painting is signed in brown to the lower right. It is presented in a wide wooden frame with stunning cast foliate embellishments and gold tone finish. Jensen exhibited work across the nation, including at the Brooklyn Museum of Art and Columbus Museum of Art. He spent many years gaining success as a commercial artist, and had works published by the Saturday Evening Post, TIME, and Ladies Home Journal.
