A mid-century oil painting on board by listed American artist Abruzzi, born Harold Stephenson (1908-1974). The piece features a light impasto technique and depicts a modernist portrait of two female figures set against an abstract colorful landscape with a large shade tree positioned to the background. One figure is shown with a sad expression, wearing a patterned harlequin costume, while an ethereal female nude stands behind her. The work is signed ‘Abruzzi’ in brown paint to the lower right. It is presented without glass in a wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
