Framed Illuminated Manuscript Pages Including Replica From the Urbino Bible
Item Details
A pair of framed Illuminated Manuscript pages. Included is a page in Latin from Psalm 105:31-37, written in gouache on thin paper. The beginning of each new verse is indicated by a red or blue Initium. Also included is a replica Chromolithograph of the first page of Genisis from the Urbino Bible, an illuminated manuscript printed 1476-78. The Urbino piece has a cream-colored mat, and both pieces are presented behind glass in gold tone frames with wires for hanging. There are notes of provenance to the verso of both frames.
Condition
- worn frame finish; some warping to smaller piece; glass could be cleaned more thoroughly.
