A reproduction sculpture after the original marble sculpture by Michaelangelo for the tomb of Lorenzo de’Medici often known as Il Penseroso or ‘The Thoughtful One’. This depicts a seated Lorenzo de’ Magnifico, in a layered doublet and dress, with one hand raised to hs face, forefinger curled and resting upon his upper lip in thought, as the other hand rests on a knee. He rising on a stepped pedestal base. It reads ‘Il Penseroso’ to the front, and ‘Michel Ange’ to the side.
Condition
- fair; some surface wear with a significant front loss to the base; cracks across the base; some overall faint markings; surface dust and residue.
