1930s Parisian Haute Couture Dress by Lucien Lelong

Item Details

A circa 1930s haute couture cocktail dress in black silk velvet with sprays of hand sewn rhinestones by Parisian master Lucien Lelong (1889-1958). The sleeveless dress slips on over the head with a v-neck and a band of rhinestones in various sizes creating the illusion of a sash draped from the right shoulder to tie at the waist then radiating toward the hem. The sumptuously soft velvet is gathered slightly at the waist at the left side and cascades in a soft ripple. A velvet jacket, designed to be worn open, with a bow at the back of the neckline is designed to cover the shoulders with ribbed detailing at the hem of the short sleeves. The attached label reads, ‘Modele Depose Made in France Lucien Lelong 16 Rue Matignon’. This dress was taken to be evaluated during a taping of the ‘Antiques Road Show’ where is enthusiastically valued at five thousand dollars.
