Cast Clay Bust After Leo Cherne "Albert Schweitzer"

A cast clay bust after Leo Cherne, titled Albert Schweitzer. This freestanding bust depicts the German philosopher in front portraiture rendered with sunken eyes, as well as chiseled wrinkles and facial hair. The elongated neck contains an in mold signature and copyright date (1955). The bust is affixed to a painted resin base in the shape of a trapezoid that is inscribed with the philosopher’s name. To the underside is an affixed felt pad.

Condition

- many scattered chips to finish; head is turned on base; discoloration to base; tape residue to felt underside.
