An oil painting on canvas titled Building in Paris, Late Afternoon by listed American artist William Benecke (1934-2001). The painting depicts a building in Paris, France in predominantly blue and white tones. Several rows of buildings ascend higher than the previous in this cityscape with the foremost building adorned by white shutters. Signed to the lower left in graphite. To the verso is a label from W. T. Berger Co. The work remains unframed.

William Benecke was born in 1934 in Chicago, Illinois and had his formal art training at the Art Institute of Chicago. He worked as an illustrator for several major studios in Chicago and also worked as a staff illustrator for the Chicago Tribune and the Sun Times. When he was 24, he traveled to Mexico and lived there for ten years during which time he painting and running his own gallery. He is known for his landscapes, garden scenes and portraits.
