Airport Taxiway Light Lamp

An airport taxiway light lamp. It has a blue and red lamp in a tall dome shape, attached by a bracket to a yellow painted steel pole, affixed to a base by a large nut. It rests on an oval stone or concrete base. It is topped by a tan cotton drum shade, with the socket and shade attached to the base via a slender, curved iron rod. Per consignor, who has a connection to the Lunken family (Lunken Airport,) this is an original taxiway lamp used at the now closed Blue Ash Airport, originally called Grisard Field, in the northeastern suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. Created in 1921, it was one of the first airports in the United States.

Condition

- the yellow support pole has some paint flaking, and the attaching nut is rusted.
- this lamp was tested and powers on.
