An oil on canvas titled Fresh Pond by Sidney H. Riesenberg (American, 1885-1971). Fresh Pond is a depiction of a view of a large pond seen through a frame of trees, all worked in loose strokes in naturalistic colors. The work is unframed. Please see link for more information about the artist.

Riesenberg was born in Chicago and educated at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago before moving to New York and establishing himself as a respected professional illustrator, producing well-known military and government propaganda posters during World War I. He continued creating illustrations for magazines and book covers and during the 1930s began spending summers in Rockport, Massachusetts, creating art for himself.
