An oil painting on masonite by well-listed American artist Gerald McCann (1916-1995). This Western work depicts a mounted pioneer, holding a rifle and leading two pack horses, racing amongst rocky outcroppings, as an armed Native American figure approaches from the foreground. More combatants ride from across the hill on the left, above a wide landscape. This work is signed in the lower right and presented in an ornately carved wooden frame with gold-tone inner border, wired for hanging.
